Carl Maria von Weber is considered the pioneer of German opera. At the latest since the premiere of his “Freischütz” in Berlin in 1821, he was recognized as the founder of the German romantic Volksoper.
However, it would be wrong to reduce Weber's artistic significance to his operatic work only. In his short life he created about 300 compositions that encompass almost all musical genres of the 19th century. Compositions for solo instruments and chamber music ensembles have a special place in his oeuvre.
This includes the Concertino in E flat major, op. 26, which Weber wrote  in just six days. Here Weber demonstrates his playful security in dealing with the classic forms of the sonata, the concert and the variation. His richness of sound, his preference for interesting harmonic expressions and unusual instrumental colors are also expressed.
In the arrangement for symphonic wind orchestra by Robert Kuckertz, these special qualities can experience a further increase.
